I'm loving it at Yeovil Town, says Spurs starlet Townsend
The left winger has been in inspired form since moving to Huish Park on loan at the end of last month.
His mazy runs and determined play have been a key factor in Yeovil's recent up-turn in form that has seen them go unbeaten in three League One games and climb to 16th place.
Despite only being a fortnight into his one-month stay, Townsend said he has settled in well and would like to help guide the Glovers to league safety.
"I am loving it here and I would like to stay, but that is not up to me," said the 17-year-old. "It is up to Tottenham Hotspur. I have not heard anything but I am happy to stay here."
Townsend signed for Yeovil on the same day as academy team-mate Jon Obika, joining Spurs' full-back Danny Hutchins at the club, who moved west a week before.
Both Obika and Townsend turned professional with the club they support in January and were involved in the first team squad that played Shaktar Donetsk in the UEFA Cup in February.
The Glovers' 1-0 victory at home to Northampton Town on Tuesday was watched by Spurs' academy coaches Alex Ingelthorpe and Clive Allen, and Townsend was pleased to impress.
Now he has proved his ability to his parent club in a competitive match, Townsend wants to get on the score sheet.
He said: "It was good to have another person to impress. I knew they were going to be there. I just want to keep going, keep playing well and maybe get some assists and goals.
"I have matured. On Tuesday the gaffer said I did not really run with the ball and make things happen like I did on Saturday.
"It was a mature performance and I defended well, winning the ball a few times."
Townsend praised the Yeovil fans for making the three White Hart Lane loanees feel immediately welcome, adding that tomorrow's trip to Stockport County will be an important test of squad unity.
"Playing at home the crowd are with us and I do not think they have been against us once," he said.
"You think coming to a team struggling and battling with relegation that the crowd would be against them, shouting, but that has not once been the case.
"Only once at Tottenham have I played in front of a big crowd and that was in the FA Youth Cup.
"But to do it week-in-week-out is good. The crowd are always with us and it is an inspiration.
"I have been told Stockport have beaten Yeovil twice. It will be a different team with a lot of different players.
"After three games at home it will be a very different test playing away. One win has seen us jump up five places so if we get a few more I think we will be safe."
