Yeovil a new prospect
The Glovers were on the wrong end of a 5-0 reverse at the Withdean Stadium last season, the first time they had faced former boss Russell Slade since his departure in February.
However, Skiverton and assistant manager Nathan Jones changed Yeovil's fortunes and ensured Coca-Cola League One survival.
In the summer the pair rebuilt their squad, adding ten new faces and appointing a new backroom staff.
Skiverton said the Glovers were now a different prospect and were looking forward to Saturday's clash.
"I think Yeovil is a different club than when I played at the Withdean last season," he said. "We have got a different mentality and I am just disappointed that I could not go in with my strongest team.
"Russell will come here and set his stall out and it will be a very tough game for us. They are a good side, a big club, they have got a massive budget and they are another team that we are fighting against and we are looking forward to doing so."
Skiverton added that he and his team will not be distracted by Slade's return to Huish Park for Saturday's League One match.
"I will not be focussing on Russell's team at all, I will just be focussing on what we do, how we play and how we have played," said Skiverton.
"I like Russell as a person, he was a good manager, I enjoyed playing under him and it will be good to see him.
"Hopefully it will not be in the same circumstances as the last time we played them. We want to put in a good performance and get a better result than the last time we played Brighton."
Right-back Craig Alcock and striker Sam Williams could play, while captain Stefan Stam (pictured) will undergo a late fitness test.
TEST: Yeovil Town captain and summer signing Stefan Stam will undergo a late fitness test before Saturday's game at home to Brighton and Hove Albion.
