The 35-year-old forward, who has turned out for Fulham and Spartak Moscow during his career, has been training with former side Yeovil Town in a bid to earn himself a contract elsewhere.
O'Brien said: "Andrejs is in a difficult situation at the moment because he needs international clearance at the moment which could take any amount of time. Having spoken to him, he is a good lad who has looked after himself.
"The lad is a very inferential player and (signing him) is worth investigating even for Yeovil but I would not mind admitting I would love to have him down here."

"We have had one or two lads in for training," he said. "Whether I could get them in on time, I am not too sure because they will need clearance. But bringing in new players to push us up the table is something I would like to do."
Meanwhile, Glovers' boss Terry Skiverton is monitoring the progress of Dorchester loanees Andre McCollin and Louis Lavers.
"We are quite lucky with Roy working at the club and I have been speaking to him every other day," said Skiverton. "The boys are doing well. They are both enjoying their time and it is better for them to be out there getting games rather than having the weekend off or stay behind running."
WIMBORNE Town's downturn in form continued when they lost 2-0 at Romsey Town in a Sydenhams Wessex Premier League encounter on Tuesday night.
