STRIKER Andre McCollin is hoping to score plenty of goals for Dorchester Town so he can get back into the first-team reckoning at parent club Yeovil Town.

The 22-year-old signed for the Blue Square South club on an initial one-month loan deal having been restricted to two substitute appearances for the Glovers so far this season.

And he immediately backed up his optimism by scoring on his debut, Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Dover Athletic.

He said: "I had not played for a little while so I really need the games. Hopefully I can get to play a lot, score and push the team up the league.

"I want to try and build up my match fitness at the same time, so if I do get my chance to come in at Yeovil, I can hopefully make the most of it."

Losing patience with sitting on the bench at Huish Park played into the hands of Magpies' gaffer Roy O'Brien, who also snapped up McCollin's club mate left-back Louis Lavers on an identical deal at the same time.

McCollin said: "The gaffer, Terry Skiverton, came up to me and said there had been an approach by Roy who wondered if I would go down to Dorchester for a little while. I said 'Why not?' rather than remain out of action.

"Playing again is a big difference but something had to be done. I also need to put myself in the shop window so I will try and do a job for Dorchester. I am open to offers but no matter what happens in the future, I am still a Yeovil player right at this moment and that is all I want to concentrate on."
